The King of Ink Faces the Dark: Britain’s Most Tattooed Man Opens Up About a Terrifying 40-Minute Blindness Scare

For over two decades, the man known as King of Ink Land King Body Art the Extreme Ink-Ite has pushed the boundaries of human transformation. With more than 90% of his body covered in intricate tattoos—including the whites of his eyes—he has become a living canvas, a walking testament to the art of extreme modification. But recently, the 46-year-old from Birmingham faced a moment that even his fearless exterior couldn’t shield him from: his vision suddenly vanished.

It happened without warning. One moment, the world was sharp and familiar; the next, it was gone. ‘I went temporarily blind for around 40 minutes,’ he recalled, his voice heavy with the memory. ‘It was so scary.’ The silence of that darkness was broken only by the frantic beat of his own heart. When his sight finally returned, it was not a clean recovery—his vision remained blurry, and a severe vertigo set in, making the world spin around him like a relentless carousel.

Unable to use his phone and disoriented, he found himself on a main road, forced to flag down police officers for help. The fear was palpable. ‘It was terrifying,’ he admitted. ‘I had no idea what was happening to me.’

At the hospital, a battery of tests followed. Doctors ruled out a stroke, and his eyes, despite the dramatic ink, appeared healthy on examination. Yet the mystery remained. The specialist treating him was reportedly baffled, admitting he had never before encountered a patient with tattooed eyeballs. The exact cause of the temporary blindness remains unclear, leaving both the patient and medical professionals searching for answers.

This isn’t the first time his modifications have caused concern. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. While he insists the ink isn’t the culprit, he’s acutely aware that his scleral tattoos could complicate future treatment if the condition worsens. ‘If I need surgery, they don’t know how the ink will react,’ he explained. ‘It’s a risk I’ve accepted, but it’s still a worry.’

He also lives with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, which triggers intense dizziness when he gets out of bed. In the wake of the blindness scare, he’s taken precautions: spending less time on screens and wearing blue-light glasses. ‘It was a wake-up call,’ he said. ‘I’m not invincible.’

Yet, despite the scare, his passion for transformation hasn’t waned. After a four-year hiatus from new tattoos, he’s ready to continue his journey. ‘If I play silly games, I’ll win stupid prizes,’ he admitted with a wry smile, acknowledging the inherent risks of his lifestyle.

His story is a stark reminder that extreme body modification carries extreme consequences. While the art is stunning, the science is unforgiving. Scleral tattooing, the procedure that inks the eye’s white, involves injecting pigment into a delicate structure. Medical professionals warn of inflammation, infection, and potential complications for future eye care—risks that King of Ink Land knows all too well.

He’s not alone in facing such scares. In 2025, Twitch star Pokimane nearly lost her eye in a rare accident, and Kick streamer YourRage was hospitalized after an axe struck his eye on stream. The world of influencers and extreme artists is no stranger to danger.

For now, King of Ink Land continues to live his truth, inked from head to toe, with eyes that reflect both his art and his vulnerability. ‘I’ve chosen this path,’ he said. ‘I just hope my eyes can handle the journey.’
